What I’m Bringing To The 4th Of July Cookout!

July 1st, 2009 by christie-jonesboro
I went searching for a yummy cool dessert to bring to my family’s 4th of July cookout this weekend and found this one on the Kraft website.  It’s got all my favorite things… Nutter Butter cookies, chocolate, cream cheese and cool whip. How can that be bad?  Wish me luck… if you want to give it a try… I’m posting the recipe. If you are looking for other “no bake” desserts check out www.kraft.com
chocolate_n_peanut_butter_ribbon_dessert
Chocolate and Peanut Butter Ribbon Dessert
12 NUTTER BUTTER Peanut Butter Sandwich Cookies, divided
2 Tbsp.  butter, melted
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup  creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 tsp.  vanilla
1 tub (12 oz.) COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed, divided
2 squares  BAKER’S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, melted

Make It!

CRUSH 8 of the cookies in resealable plastic bag with rolling pin. Mix cookie crumbs and butter. Press onto bottom of foil-lined 9×5-inch loaf pan.

MIX cream cheese, peanut butter, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended. Gently stir in 3 cups of the whipped topping. Spoon 1/2 cup of the cream cheese mixture into small bowl. Stir in melted chocolate until well blended; set aside. Spoon half of the remaining cream cheese mixture over crust. Top evenly with chocolate mixture; cover with remaining cream cheese mixture.

FREEZE 4 hours or overnight until firm. Invert onto plate. Remove foil, then re-invert onto serving platter so that crumb layer is on bottom. Coarsely break the remaining 4 cookies. Top dessert with remaining whipping topping and cookies.

Wanna buy Alan Jackson’s house?

June 30th, 2009 by christie-jonesboro

Alan Jackson and his wife have put their 19,000 square foot home in Franklin, Tennessee up for sale. For a mere $38 MILLION dollars you can own this gorgeous property.

This place is HUGE, yet only has six bedrooms. The property is srrounded by equestrian estates and has the Harpeth River nearby. Amenities include stocked and aerated lake with a boat house and 3 ponds, a 20 car garage, a gym, 2 bed log cabin overlooking the river, a barn with a two bedroom apartment above, a pole barn, an airplane landing and as we say in the radio business….. a whole lot more!

Alan describes the place as ” like a Disney World out here.” I agree! alan-jackson-home

First Farrah… and now Michael Jackson? WHAT?

June 25th, 2009 by christie-jonesboro

I cannot believe that today we said goodbye to two pop culture icons. Unbelievable. I was in denial when the story first broke that Michael Jackson had gone to the hospital following cardiac arrest.

Much like the way I felt the night that Princess Diana was in that horriffic car crash, I said to myself, he won’t die… he’s a celebrity…. he’s Michael Jackson.

But like Princess Diana, I was wrong. Michael Jackson did die and I’m sad. Say what you will about his alleged poor choices later in life. He was a phenomenal entertainer and a pop icon.

I grew up listening to Michael Jackson ( on cassette tape mind you) and learned countless dance routines to songs choreographed to MJ songs in Jr. High.

His posters hung on my wall. Some were torn from Teen Beat and Tiger Beat magazines and some actually were full size that I begged my mom to buy me at the record store in the mall.

I loved Michael Jacksons music, always have… always will. Yes, I love country music, but I was a die hard Michael Jackson Fan. I owned the sparkling white glove! Yes… I did. Me and my friends wore them with pride and although I never learned to moon walk, I tried my hardest.

Wow… I still can’t believe it… Michael Jackson is dead. I am going to Hastings right now and loading up on Michael Jackson CD’s and I’m going to listen to everyone of them very loudly and maybe I’ll even teach my girls the dance routine I still remember for P.Y.T!

Rest in peace Michael Jackson

I had this poster on my wall as a teen.

Goodbye Farrah

June 25th, 2009 by christie-jonesboro

Farrah Fawcett

I was so sad today to hear of the passing of Farrah Fawcett who fought a long three year battle with cancer.  It’s hard to believe she was 62. I guess in my mind she was still the young gorgeous blonde who graced my big brother’s bedroom wall for so many years in that little red bathing suit.

She was also the star of one of my favorite TV shows as a kid. My whole family loved Charlie’s Angels.

I remember as a kid playing Charlies Angels with my friends on the playground. I always wanted to be Jill, but I had the wrong color hair according to my friends and that I must be Kelly or Sabrina.   Oh how I envied my friend Kim with her long flowing golden  locks, she was always Jill!

Farrah was an icon, probably the first true pop culture icon that I can remember in my lifetime.

Rest in peace Farrah…. Rest in peace.

No more Jon and Kate Plus 8… atleast for a while.

June 23rd, 2009 by christie-jonesboro

jonandkateJon and Kate are taking a break in more ways than one.

TLC, the network that produces the Gosselin’s reality TV show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, announced on Tuesday that the show is taking a production break.

In a statement to RadarOnline.com, the net spokesperson said, “TLC continues to support the Gosselin family and will work closely with them to determine the best way to continue to tell their story as they navigate through this difficult time.

“Following a retrospective of Jon and Kate’s first 10 years airing on June 29, the show will be on hiatus until Aug 3rd.  During this time the family will take some time off to regroup and then a modified schedule will be in place to support the family’s transition.”

The decision comes at the heels of the couple’s public announcement to separate on Monday night’s show. Kate, who filed for divorce Monday afternoon in Montgomery County, PA., had the proceedings sealed.

According to Kate, her husband’s activities “left her no choice but to file legal procedures” to protect herself and her children.

A well-placed PA attorney told RadarOnline.com that taking the filing to neighboring Montgomery County as opposed to Berks County where the Gosselins live, was a smart move on Kate’s part.  “Judges in Montgomery County have a wide range of discretionary power in sealing high profile cases, especially those that involve children,” the attorney said.

Pennsylvania, like California is a “no fault” divorce state, the attorney pointed out, meaning that Kate does not need to present a list of alleged wrong-doings on Jon’s part in order to get the divorce granted.  Their property settlement is another matter, however, and could be hard-fought.

It was the network - not the Gosselins — that chose to temporarily shut down production, a TLC rep confirmed to RadarOnline.com.

Garth Brooks, Bill’s Fresh Market and Ribs!

June 8th, 2009 by christie-jonesboro

garth.jpg

I am notorious for having strange dreams… really strange; random; crazy dreams.

It must run in my family, because my daughters both have wierd dreams too.

In fact; I’m sure you’d find it very comical to listen to our conversations at breakfast time.

For example: Last night I dreamed I was grocery shopping at Bill’s Fresh Market with Garth Brooks.

He was pushing the cart and I had the list.  Garth looks to me and say’s “I want to grill ribs today”… so off to the meat counter we went. Garth rings the bell and says ” I want some ribs but I want you to cut them really thin.” First of all.. WHAT?

Can you even cut ribs thin? And why on earth is Garth Brooks going grocery shopping with ME?

I have been racking my brain wondering why I dreamed this dream. The only Garth contact I’ve had recently, other than playing him on the radio, is when I watched him on the George Strait special, but that was like two weeks ago.

I tried to get this dream interpreted online, but it must have been even too wierd for them. So if you have any thoughts, please leave me a comment.

If anything good did come from the dream is the fact that it has made me crave ribs. Fire up the grill Jeffery… you’re cooking tonight!
